SHANNON MORTENSEN-SCOTT – President & CEO

Over 20 years of experience with toxicity testing, TIE/TRE studies, wastewater treatability studies and environmental analyses. Responsible for a wide range of the company’s administrative activities related to laboratory operations and experience extends into advanced environmental studies. Provides guidance, oversight, and execution of action items per regulating agencies for Cove’s laboratory to be certified through the NELAC Program. Additionally, helped maintain proficiency, standards, and procedures needed for all states and methods the laboratory is accredited for. Serves as client guardian to facilitate WET testing, strategies for proposals, and execution of special studies, as well as client development.


SARAH BROWN – Quality Manager

Responsible for implementation and administration of the quality system and serves as oversight of quality control data. Serves to uphold the lab’s ethical integrity and standards by facilitating trainings and audits for the facility and its staff. Has experience in toxicity testing and environmental analysis, and is proficient in laboratory procedures regarding technical aspects of WET testing. Trained to be proficient in the process of assessing laboratory compliance with NELAC standards and state regulatory certifications. Additionally, acts as lead role for outsourced audit services of third party clientele.


DANIEL BROWN – Project Specialist & Analytical Chemist

Key role in engineering, chemical analysis and instrumentation, and laboratory projects with over 8 year’s experience. Serves technical role in performing site specific and special studies, such as TIE/TRE strategies as well as on-site field, and facility evaluations. Additionally, responsible for maintaining the aquatic toxicity laboratory’s data integrity of intranet procedures related to laboratory work. 


CHANCE OLIVER – Laboratory Supervisor

Serves lead role in water and wastewater analysis for the laboratory and organization of work load related to testing.  Performs WET testing, TIE/TRE and client specific special studies, analytical proficiency testing, and routine supervision of laboratory operations. Additionally, is responsible for oversight to support chemical analysis for WET testing and related special studies.

 

JUSTIN SCOTT, PhD – Laboratory Director & Principal Ecotoxicologist

Ecotoxicologist with a combined 20 years’ experience with aquatic toxicity testing and related treatability studies and environmental analyses for which the laboratory is accredited. Proficient in the NELAC accreditation process, standards, and methods. Responsible for technical oversight to TIE/TRE, site-specific, chemical analysis, and toxicity special studies. Provides expertise in the laboratory’s in-house aqua culturing processes of invertebrate and vertebrate species. Additionally, lead research and development of advanced and novel methodologies, aimed at animal alternative testing and identifying chemical’s mechanistic toxicity of action.
